Sensory Integration

Event date:

Monday, 19 November, 2018
Croydon (9am - 2.30pm)

It is possible for children who have experienced neglect, abuse or some form of trauma to develop sensory processing and developmental difficulties of some form. A child who has not been physically or mentally stimulated may develop difficulties such as poor coordination and Global Developmental Delay. If these difficulties are not resolved it could result in the child’s development being impaired.

Sensory Integration is a training programme aimed at adopters who are in stage two, are approved, have children placed with them or who have adopted. It focusses on the effects of neglect, abuse and trauma on sensory development and regulating behaviour and emotion through sensory integration.

The programme will cover the following:

* How trauma and disrupted attachment have a lifelong effect on sensory development of abused and neglected children

* Strategies to regulate emotions and manage challenging behaviour through sensory integration
