35 children and their families enjoyed a picnic in the sun recently at the Diagrama hosted annual event.
Adopters and Foster Carers were invited to bring their families to the animal themed picnic in Purley and spend the day relaxing and having fun, away from the stresses of everyday life.
The activities for the children included ‘pin the tail on the unicorn’, a soft play area for younger children, face painting, jewellery making and a bouncy castle for the bigger kids. Many arrived dressed as an animal of their choice which was lovely to see.
The picnic gives families the chance to get together and share experiences while their children play. Kate Patel, Head of Adoption and Fostering, said, “It was great to see so many families connecting with each other, either for the first time or after a long while and I could tell by their conversations that everyone really enjoyed meeting the Diagrama staff in a relaxed environment. It was brilliant to see the children forming new friendships and having fun together.”
The day ended on a real high when the winner of ‘Fuzzy’ the bear was revealed. The giant teddy was donated to the picnic by a local business and the children all took part in the chance to win it by guessing a name from a list. Fuzzy eventually went to its new home, but not before the thoughtful 10 year old winner allowed the other children to give Fuzzy a big cuddle.
