According to the latest ASG (Adoption and Special Guardianship Quarterly Data Collection data), England is facing a shortfall of 750 adopter families, nearly three times the gap recorded last year. As a result, 790 children have been waiting over a year to find a permanent, loving family, a rise of 55%, and a further 390 children have waited more than 18 months, up 63% from last year.
These aren’t just numbers or statistics. These are children, young lives in need of stability, care, and unconditional love.
Many of these children are classed as “harder to place.” This includes older children, sibling groups, children with additional needs, and those from Black and global majority backgrounds. Currently, around 75% of children waiting for adoption fall into one or more of these categories. These are the very children that Diagrama Adoption is committed to supporting, working tirelessly to find loving, permanent homes for those who often wait the longest.
At Diagrama, we believe every child deserves a chance to thrive in a forever family and we know that the right adopters are out there.
We understand that the idea of adoption can feel daunting. You may be wondering if you’re the right kind of person, if now is the right time, or whether you have what it takes. That’s where we come in. Our team is here to talk, to listen, and to guide you every step of the way, no pressure, no judgment, just honest conversation.
We are actively looking to speak with individuals, couples, and families who feel they might be ready to take that first step toward adoption. Whether you're just curious or already committed, we’re here to support you.
If you’ve been thinking about adoption, now is the time to act. There are children waiting, hoping, for someone just like you.
