For the parents who worry they’re “not perfect” on National Adoption Week

As we wrap up National Adoption Week, we want to speak directly to anyone thinking about adoption - especially those who worry they’re not perfect enough to be a parent.

We asked our team what they would say to those people. Their answers were full of encouragement and wisdom:

“There’s no such thing as perfect - no one is expecting that, except maybe you. What matters most is a persistent, caring heart. That’s far more valuable than any kind of ‘perfection’ (if it even existed).”

And another reminder from the team:

“Children don’t need perfect parents. They need a family who care enough to notice how they’re feeling, and respond in a kind, therapeutic way - so they feel safe and loved, one day at a time.”

At Diagrama, we’ve seen time and time again that it’s not the fanciest house or the picture-perfect family that creates the best outcomes - it’s the people who show up, keep trying, and build trust one small moment at a time.

So if you’re wondering whether you could be the loving home a child needs - the answer might just be yes.

While National Adoption Week draws to a close, the numbers will continue to grow. Right now, 2,910 children are waiting for a loving home like yours*. You can take the next step in your journey with Diagrama Adoption by downloading a pack or joining our next free online information session on Wednesday 12th November 2025.
